Raising Hope and Awareness for the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation

WASHINGTON - July 31, 2019 - PRLog -- It's every parent's worst nightmare: "Your child has a tumor." Though it doesn't take away the sting of those devastating words, there are kind-hearted individuals who have committed their lives to offering solutions, encouragement and hope; charities like the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF).

The nonprofit organization is a partner charity of the Biofreeze San Francisco Marathon, which allows runners to raise funds for the incredible work that the Foundation is doing for children across the country. Dr. Clayton Lawrence, president and CEO of Lawrence Executive Alliance of Professionals (LEAP), LLC, and founder of LEAP Foundation DC, headed west to participate in his 116^thmarathon and expand his mission to make a difference in the lives of today's youth and their families.

Nonprofit organizations like SmileTrain, Students Run LA, Kids Run Miami, American Institute for Cancer Research, Team for Kids and Mentor Me India have benefitted from the endurance athlete's commitment to strengthen LEAP's mission to "bridge the gap between hope and achievement" through programs that are aimed at the disadvantaged and overlooked.

"It is an honor to strengthen our mission by joining others in the fight against childhood obesity and disease prevention," Dr. Lawrence said. "Through our dedication to marathon sports, we have raised funds for local, national and global charities that recognize the importance of presenting opportunities for youth and adults to achieve overall health and wellness."

The San Francisco marathon's official CrowdRise fundraising page indicated that runners raised nearly $10,000 for the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation, which aims to improve the treatment, quality of life and the long-term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education and advocacy to families and survivors. The national leader in Quality of Life services to children, families and survivors of pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors, "CBTF works across the country to help families who are facing brain or spinal cord tumor diagnosis and work closely with survivors through young adulthood," the page explained. Summer camps, weekend gatherings, and online chats and meetings provide support, while ongoing research into the causes and treatments of brain tumors help provide real answers and genuine hope.

"That's the key word – hope," Dr. Lawrence said. "It is an honor to have the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for an organization that understands how just a glimmer of hope can change the course of someone's life. It opens doors, leads us closer to answers and encourages individuals who may be struggling to believe in a better tomorrow."

Dr. Lawrence was proud to be a part of something that has such an incredible impact and reach, but credited his friends and family for offering the love and support needed to complete the marathon.

"And, of course, it takes a special kind of playlist to keep a runner inspired during a 26.2-mile course. This is a man who has overcome adversity, making not only his dreams come true, but those of others through motivational speaking, philanthropy and a commitment to his community.
