Transformation and revenge – not party politics, but the new epic fantasy from Daria Finica

The heroine of Daria's latest book is Emmalin Adara, a young woman committed to find out what are her supernatural origins. She is in fact an imortal nephilim, the offspring of angels and humans, who enjoys supernatural speed and power, but has to drink human blood in order to survive, just like a vampire. She involves Leo in her quest, forcing him to become a nephilim and to live a damned life near her.

Leo is young, incredibly intelligent, yet emotionally tormented and doesn't seem to find his place anywhere. He blames his rebel side for his incapacity of finding a place of his own. Yet, in reality, supernatural dark forces lurk inside his body, determining him to behave in a way which makes the others fear him. Leo is proud, sincere, rebellious and profoundly moral, he likes living in solitude and he is dark and romantic.

He is living an anti-social life in New York until he meets Emmalin. Emmalin brings him close to death and she gives him her blood, transforming him into the nephilim he was supposed to be. She offers him a new life, yet a damned one: Leo will have to bear for all eternity the burden of the guilt he is tormented with every time he feeds on human blood.

„I'm completely in love with the Gothic literature and with everything mysterious, dark and with no rational explanation. I like the very idea of mystery the gothic literature is so strongly defined by, the ideea that not everything in this world can be explained through the rational, that something always escapes the natural and the ordinary.

And one day, a crazy idea struck me. Why not imagine my own world full of wonders and mysteries? Why not write my own gothic fiction novel and populate it with the characters I love most? And so, my project began. I started working with enthusiasm on my first novel, Song fo the Nephilim, completely enchanted with the characters I was creating and completely submerged in the very process of creation," says Daria Finica.
