Follow on Google News | Summer Special at the Pilgrim Hotel: £149 pp for a very special stayBy: Pilgrim Country House Hotel Well that's not the case at the Pilgrim Country House Hotel in the Wye Valley, where an exceptionally good value package has been created for the month of August. Owned and run by ex-England and British Lions rugby player, Steve Boyle, the hotel is located midway between Hereford and the market town of Ross on Wye, in the heart of cider and walking country. The package costs from £149 per person (two sharing a room) which includes B&B in one of the new, luxurious, Country Collection rooms (the hotel has just undergone a major refurbishment) There are plenty of things to do in the area, including a visit to Hereford – which is home to the famous mediaeval Mappa Mundi map – and the cider museum (the website has downloadable cider trail walks). Or, head in the other direction to the pretty market town of Ross-on-Wye with its wide range of shops and pubs, with a stop on the way or the way back at the Labels Outlet shopping centre. There is also a wide choice of golf courses in the area, and plenty of spots for fishing (Steve is a keen angler himself and will offer his advice). Alternatively, just chill in the hotel's pub-style bar, which serves locally sourced beers and ciders. The package – which if costed separately would cost an additional £60 – is valid for all stays between Sunday and Thursday in August (subject to availability) For those wishing to include a Friday or Saturday night, there is a supplement of £20 per person (£40 total for the two-night stay).
