By: Operation Food Search The Bank of America funding will enable OFS to expand its partnerships in St. Louis County, St. Louis City and surrounding counties with a goal to increase child participation rates. Since the program began in 2012, OFS and community partners have served more than 350,000 meals. This summer the agency has a goal to serve a total of 100,000 meals throughout the St. Louis region. "Hunger negatively impacts education, health and the economic vitality of our state both now and for future generations," Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization founded in 1981 that provides food and nutrition education. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food. The agency helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.
