McCarthy Completes Piedmont Newton Emergency Room

COVINGTON, Ga. - July 23, 2019 - PRLog -- McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (https://www.mccarthy.com/) Southern region completed the Piedmont Newton Emergency Room expansion and renovation located within Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, Ga. in May. The three-phase project consisted of a 5,000-square-foot expansion and 12,000-square-foot renovation of the existing emergency room area.

The expansion and renovation included the addition of a triage area and new waiting room as well as a 4,500-square-foot addition to the ground level of the existing emergency department. The new area houses two nursing stations, 16 patient treatment rooms, a new ambulance entrance and fully-equipped trauma room. Additionally, McCarthy renovated all existing areas of the emergency room. McCarthy began work on the emergency center in October 2017 and undertook all the of the work while the hospital remained fully functional. The project cost an estimated $9.5 million of which $4 million was generated through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Taxes (SPLOST) revenue.
