COSTA MESA, Calif. - July 19, 2019 - PRLog -- The Masters Hall of Fame, an organization dedicated to recognizing excellence in the martial arts, has announced entertainment for the 20th Anniversary on Saturday, Saturday, July 27, at the Hilton Costa Mesa Hotel. Dr. Robert Goldman will be Grand Master of Ceremonies, and Sifu Cynthia Rothrock will be the Keynote Speaker.

The banquet's opening ceremonies will feature Taiko Drummers in a performance of the ancient Japanese art form. First introduced into Japan around the Sixth Century, modern Taiko performance was developed in the 1950s through the efforts of Daihachi Oguchi. Today Taiko performances have become a worldwide phenomenon.

The evening continues with a screening of the short film "The Last Dojo," which has been described as "a love letter from director William Christopher Ford to Shihan Fumio Demura and his legendary dojo." The 20-minute film recalls the final days of Demura's iconic dojo before its destruction. In it, the great karate master shares his emotional remembrances of his dojo and the impact his teachings had on his students and the wider community of martial artists.

During the dinner, martial arts champion and actor Philip Sahagun will present a demonstration. Sahagun is a seven-time National and a three-time International Level Martial Arts Champion in both forms and fighting. He has trained in American Kenpo, Kickboxing, Wushu and Shaolin Temple Kung Fu, and twice represented the United States at the World Traditional Wushu Festival in China, winning both gold and silver medals. Sahagun is also an actor who appeared with Tina Turner in her 50th Anniversary World Tour. He has also worked with Cirque Du Soleil as both a solo artist and a choreographer.

"We are very excited about our entertainment lineup for the 20th Anniversary Awards Banquet," says Masters Hall of Fame Chairman Dr. Daniel Hect. "The Taiko Drummers have been a tradition at the Masters' events and are always well received. It is an honor to be able to screen William Ford's film, "The Last Dojo," even more so as he will be taking on the role of CEO to the organization for next year. Lastly, Philip Sahagun - what can I say about this amazing martial artist. He must be seen to be believed. This is going to be an amazing event."

The Masters Hall of Fame was founded in 1999 and is recognized as one of the premier Martial Arts events in the US.  Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the martial arts and work in the community, as well as their individual successes.
