Circadence Wins Silver Award for inCyt from International Serious Play Awards Competition
"We are thrilled inCyt has been recognized as an influential tool for individuals, families and employees to learn about cyber in a fun and engaging way that helps to remove the fear of being attacked," said Michael Moniz, co-founder, president, and CEO at Circadence. "Businesses can use inCyt to empower their staff through lighthearted game-play to hone their cyber hygiene skills."
Six judges received access to the games to meticulously evaluate each entry. Serious Play's award program reviews each digital game submitted and recognizes outstanding games developed for education or training in business, government/military, healthcare, museums, K-12, and higher education.
In the wake of evolving threats on businesses and individuals, inCyt teaches players safe cyber practices through concept-driven gameplay reflective of real-world cybersecurity offensive and defensive strategies. Players have digital "hackables" they must protect in the game as they try to capture other players' assets while searching for vulnerabilities to exploit. The back and forth game play teaches players how and why attacks occur in the first place and where vulnerabilities exist on a variety of digital networks.
"In many ways, we've made the traditional 'scary' world of hacking a playful experience,"
inCyt was developed for non-cybersecurity professionals, individuals, and even families who want to understand how to protect themselves from cyber risks that often stem from every day vulnerabilities like email, Wi-Fi and social media. Users learn foundational cyber concepts, terms and how cyberattacks work. They also learn about topics related to software security, hardware/device security, policy compliance, phishing and fraudulent communications, insider threats, password protection, and more. The progressive format, repetition of exercises and explanation of answers, helps players understand strategies and reinforces learned concepts. inCyt provides training that is built on the guidance in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications 800-16 and 800-50 and is informed by the latest threat vectors and cybersecurity trends to ensure users receive relevant training and meet program policy guidance.
