Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Founder Victoria L Collier On Protecting Digital Assets
By: The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm
DECATUR, GA, July 19, 2019: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, posted a new article on her firm's website, "How To Establish Legal Rights To Digital Assets" Ms. Collier helps readers understand the value of digital assets and elaborates on including a digital asset plan as part of an estate and asset protection plan.
"As we move deeper and deeper into the digital world," writes Collier, "we accumulate more digital assets that have monetary as well as sentimental value." She continues adding, "Sometimes the monetary value of these assets can be worth hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. For most regular people though, the value is more likely to be in the thousands or purely sentimental."
According to Collier, "Until recently, very few laws helped to determine who could access these files and accounts if the user became incapacitated or died. If the deceased or incapacitated person wanted any of their digital assets to be deleted, modified, or distributed to loved ones, it was difficult to discern who would have a legal right to access them."
