Gregory Brenner Art presentation at Conception Art Exhibiition in New York City

LONG BEACH, N.Y. - July 17, 2019 - PRLog -- Conception Art, new art venture makes its debut with a pop-up show that is pleased to present a group exhibition of new works featuring all these selected emerging artists and established artists. There will also be music and refreshments.

Being born into a family of artists and musicians, Gregory started painting as a child. His first inspiration was the bizarre and colorful art style of his grandmother Becky Brenner (who's works "Ye Old Colonel" & "The Reluctant Virgin" have been displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art).

Since then Gregory has developed a style that he describes as "a sacred stream of conciseness". His style is full of color, movement and energy surging through the canvas taking shape as weird cartoonish entities. Gregory states: "I usually just start moving the brush across the canvas without any thought.

I let myself be guided by intuition.  Once I make the initial marks, I ask the art itself what it wants to be and then it tells me. I want the creation to be free without any preconceived notions of where I want to go; I want the art to go where it wants to go. I find that by not forcing my agenda on the art, it always repays me with inspiration that I couldn't have thought up on my own.

Gregory studied art at FIT & SUNY Purchase in New York & Keene State in New Hampshire. In 1996, Gregory was one of ten FIT students selected to show in a group exhibit at OSilas Gallery in Yonkers, NY.

Gregory has had 59 illustrations published in Surrender To The Flow Magazine and has illustrated the children's book TMWSIY (Based on the music of Phish, all proceeds donated to The Waterwheel Foundation).  (scans of published works and book located on Gregory's website)
