CINCINNATI - July 16, 2019 - PRLog -- #NEWTRUTHS LAUNCHES DURING THE 2019 CINCINNATI MUSIC FESTIVAL TO SHOWCASE THE STRENGTH AND DISPEL MYTHS OF BLACK CULTURE
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Hosts National Platform That Seeks to Evolve the Perception of Ethnic Minorities in Media and Society

During the 2019 Cincinnati Music Festival, one of the largest outdoor R&B concerts in the U.S., the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will host #NEWTRUTHS, a national platform aimed to evolve the perception ethnic minorities in media and society. Created by WORLDVUE (www.worldVUE.net), #NEWTRUTHS curates unique experiences that amplify the African American culture and showcases the strength, image, and beauty found within it. #NEWTRUTHS will present a three-day event from July 25th- 27th at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio that convenes industry thought leaders, interactive events, and empowering discussions on the state of the Black Male image.

"There is a clear connection between stereotypes and negative images of black and brown people in advertisements and media and the social consequences found in incidents like Starbucks or law enforcement.  Our focus is to partner with the nation's largest advertisers, agencies, and media entities to foster a new narrative about communities of color to drive social change," says Sean Rugless, President of the Katalyst Group and Founder of the #NewTruths platform."

#NEWTRUTHS works to correct cultural misunderstandings about people of color by replacing negative images and perceptions with positive, accurate portrayals of communities of color across mediums to foster 'new truths' that society can act on. The initiative has an institutional partnership with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, home to the Midwest's only Implicit Bias Lab.

"As an education center and a convener of dialogue, our museum is the ideal fit to host WORDVUE's #NEWTRUTHS event series as it complements the guest experience of our Implicit Bias Learning Lab," says National Underground Railroad Freedom Center President and COO, Dion Brown. "By working with WORLDVUE, we are helping to correct the negative perceptions ethnic minorities are portrayed in media as well as offer a platform to share their narratives, from a first – person perspective."

At the same time, the dire statistics on Black and Brown men reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) to the National Coalition on Men (www.ncfm.org), it is obvious that men of color are experiencing systematic discrimination in public health issues, parenting, education, financial literacy, and criminal sentencing, to name a few. Over the course of three days during the Cincinnati Music Festival, #NEWTRUTHS will present national and local voices to address these issues by way of the following events:
