North Texas Expansion Club Weatherford FC Promoted in First Season
Weatherford (Texas)-based Pro Development club to play in UPSL Division I
By: United Premier Soccer League
The only current Pro Development soccer club in Weatherford (Texas), Weatherford FC posted nine wins in 12 games and a second-place finish atop the UPSL Championship Central Conference North Division table to earn automatic promotion to UPSL Division I for the 2019 Fall Season.
Weatherford FC Director of Communication Robert Vance said, "Everyone is extremely excited and very proud of what we've accomplished. It means a lot to secure promotion. We didn't have to rely on anybody else. We went out there and did it ourselves."
Weatherford FC won three of its final four regular season games to take 27 points from 12 league fixtures. The team hosts its games at Kangaroo Stadium (250 Eureka St., Weatherford, TX 76086).
"This is Weatherford's inaugural season, and from the very beginning Brandon Medrano and I wanted to make sure our club was different than the others around us. We had this idea about how a club can build its brand and gain recognition, and it's been a lot of hard work that he and I and many others have put into Weatherford FC," Vance said.
The Weatherford (Texas)-based club scored a division-high 48 goals and allowed a division-low 15 to finish with a division-best plus-33 goal differential.
