The Bear Williams Band Reinvents The Blues

CHICAGO - July 22, 2019 - PRLog -- The night was warm, but the listening room at Buddy Guy's namesake Chicagoland Blues Club, Buddy Guy's Legends was white hot with anticipation for the night's featured performer.

Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Bassist, Singer, and Musical Director, Bear Williams was in town this night ready to treat fans to his brand of blues tinged with a generous portion of rock, country and soul. The Chicago-Born Front-man stepped on stage dressed in a black leather cowboy hat, long flowing dark shirt with black leather pants and boots. Armed with a dynamic tenor voice, Bear also wielded a natural wood 5 String Electric Bass of his own design that he calls "Katrina"... Which as this writer understands it, is his wife's middle name. Bear along with his band and singers "The Bearettes" delivered both new originals and old blues favorites with passion, power and good-natured fun. Bear's reinvention of the Blues genre comes through his many years of touring alongside major artists in rock, country, gospel and soul. The crowd immediately took in the high energy emitting from the stage and gave it right back to the group in the form of raucous applause and laughter when appropriate. The extra bonus of night came when the Legend himself, the nearly 83 Year-Old Buddy Guy came up on stage to jam with Bear and the band. Mr. Guy sang some classic blues tunes and took his time, playfully toying with the band and the crowd-at-large while downing a few shots of his favorite Cognac in between verses for moral support. All-In-All the evening was full of great musical moments from Bear with some bluesy surprises along the way. This writer has no doubt that The Bear Williams Band will soon become a perennial favorite at Blues Festivals and venues around the globe.
