Author Announces the Release of Satirical Rendition of the Entire Holy Bible
By: Ward Ricker
The author grew up in a fundamentalist background and practiced evangelical Christianity as a young adult. He attended a Christian college after high school with the intent of becoming a missionary. The realities of life and the disappointments of religion caused him to leave the faith, though, in his late twenties, and now he takes a critical view of religion.
In Holy Hustle! all sixty-six books of the Bible are rewritten, although there is some condensation of text in certain places. The historical texts, the poetry, the prophets, the letters of the apostles are all there in humorous fashion, designed to both entertain and educate the reader, highlighting the very unholy teachings and actions of god and his people in the Bible, and pointing out the contradictions and other absurdities of the Bible in a way to make the "holy book" fun to read. The author includes two songs at the end to add a little more fun.
It should be noted that the book is quite irreverent, and even "blasphemous,"
This is the second book that Ricker has published, the first also being a book of religious satire, in that case parodies of Christian music. Along with the current book, the author has also published a free book (digital format), Unholy Bible: The Unholy and Unreal Parts of the Bible, which is a serious look at the "less desirable" portions of the "holy writ".
Holy Hustle! is currently available for purchase at Amazon.com.
