Environmental Learning for Kids
Environmental Learning for Kids cultivates a passion in science, leadership, and service in a diverse community of learners.
Environmental Learning for Kids has strong partnerships with Denver Parks and Recreation, Denver Botanic Gardens and the Park Service. They have several events a year to bring families together and get them outdoors. They also have a program called the Urban Rangers and they are young adults that help teach kids at the fishing clinics, go on camping trips and educate the youth of Denver about the environment through the summer
They are a very local organization and focus on the Denver, CO area. They focus on underserved kids. 52 percent of the kids that have participated in their events have been Hispanic/Latino and 20 percent are African American. Out of all the students in their program, 85 percent of them are in the free/reduced lunch program.
Environmental Learning for Kids is not very well known in the entire state of Colorado and if they consider expanding they could further spread their overall mission. They want to teach our youth to grow up and be environmental friendly and encourage them to further their education on the sciences. They know it is important to educate the youth because they are the future.
