2019 Board, Bags and Brews Tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. - July 5, 2019 - PRLog -- Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Oregon will host its 3^rd annual Boards, Bags and Brews event. Our annual cornhole tournament offers a great opportunity for some friendly competition, great networking and the opportunity to help raise funds to support our local non-profit Girls Build, an organization that helps young girls get inspired, curious and confident about a future in construction.

"The SMPS Oregon donation, and all donations of this type, help send more girls to gain construction education, help expand the program and the locations of the camps and further GirlsBuild mission to expose and inspire underrepresented girls to go out and build and have confidence in themselves to become tomorrow's leaders," said Katie Hughes, Founder and Chief Innovator of GirlsBuild.

During one-week summer camps with Girls Build, girls 8 - 14 years old learn the basics of building, including carpentry, plumbing, electricity, concrete, sheet metal and much more! Girls have fun with other girls their age, learning the basics of many trades from skilled female instructors.  Diversity in the A|E|C industry, and especially in construction has become a hot topic especially on identifying how we recruit a diverse workforce.  Girls Build promotes these opportunities to girls at a young age and makes them excited for a potential career in the industry.

Our Corn-hole tournament will follow official corn-hole rules with double elimination, awards and raffle prizes. SMPS is a not-for-profit organization that enjoys giving back to the community and other non-profits, that's why all net-proceeds from the fundraiser and tournament will benefit Girls Build. The event will feature beer, wine, and pizza from Mt. Hood Brewing Co., hotdogs from Olympia Provisions and music.

The 3^rd annual Boards, Bags and Brews event will be held at Mt. Hood Brewing Co. Tilikum Station.   In a nod to Oregon's rich rail and train history and heritage, Mt. Hood Brewing Co. expanded to open their newest location in Portland in a former freight transfer located next to Trimet's Tilikum Station. Appropriately located just across the way from the Oregon Rail Heritage Center (x-apple-data-detectors://1), the new restaurant stands out for their menu and craft brews and their two beautifully restored train cars parked out front.
