She has supported formerly homeless speakers in strengthening their skills in the art of storytelling through the Gateway Center's Faces of Homelessness Speakers Bureau and she coaches emerging leaders as a District 44 Toastmasters Area Director. Under her leadership during the July 2018-July 2019 fiscal year, 3 Douglasville area Toastmasters Clubs achieved the Select Distinguished Club distinction, and in 2018 Cobb County Commissioners and Georgia State Representative Teri Anulewicz presented her with resolutions for her National Service in poverty alleviation via AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America). Her steadfast community leadership prompted an invitation and unanimous vote by Atlanta's Continuum of Care for residents experiencing homelessness, Gateway Center Board of Directors to serve as a fellow director. "During some of the darkest days of my life, strangers demonstrated compassion for me I had never experience before. They visited Peggy's Place, the homeless shelter in Detroit that provided me a place of refuge and fed me. I decided that I would feed primary foods to people the rest of my life," says Versandra. During her studies as an Integrated Nutrition Health Coach, she learned that our career, relationships, spirituality, and physical activities were primary foods that nourished us as much as the foods we eat with a fork. This is the message she shares at colleges, conferences, and churches across the country. Versandra Kennebrew's personal mission is to inspire each club member to reach their peak potential as they take on the Toastmasters Pathways Leadership Education Program. She wants to demonstrate through her leadership that no matter what obstacles arise during this year, their commitment to personal development will assist them with riding the waves of change.
