We are a nano-farm brewery. We grow everything to make our beers in between the vines of our winery.

Blackbarrel Brewery is housed at Whitebarrel Winery! Whitebarrel Winery has been around for over 10 years and were looking to start making beer. Now the dream of making beer is going to commence this year.
Whitebarrel has grown to become one of the largest wineries in southwest Virginia. The Whitebarrel brand can now be found in stores and restaurants across Virginia and the Washington, DC area. In 2017, they expanded their grounds to include more vineyards and gardens in Floyd County, VA, and opened the first of their expanded winery locations in downtown Blacksburg, VA (Blacksburg Wine Bar, 301 South Main Street). As their wine operations expanded, they also embarked on a journey to start brewing 100% Virginia beer made from 100% local ingredients, and thus, Blackbarrel Brewery was born.
The beer ingredients will be grown using the same bio-dynamic approach that they take to wine-making, including mostly organic treatments with a focus on sustainable farming practices. The practices that have earned Whitebarrel a "Virginia Green" certification will be applied at Blackbarrel too, including recycling 95% or more of our waste, composting all of the vineyard and food scraps, and recycling water through bio-retention system. They are dedicated to preserving the environment and minimizing the carbon footprint in the wine-making...and now in the beer-making, too.
