Indie game studio Mitten Pixels announces LIVE Online STEM Video Game Development Workshops

HOWELL, Mich. - July 3, 2019 - PRLog -- The creative duo behind the game & interactive development house Mitten Pixels, Erin and Elijah Hamilton, has been bringing students in Metro Detroit behind the scenes in learning to develop video games using the same tools and techniques as professional designers and developers, introducing them to the practical side of math and computer science, and giving them a once-in-a-lifetime introduction into game development as a career. They have now adapted their program into a nationwide program in live interactive online sessions.

Students will participate in the live online workshop for three days learning animation, visual scripting and cinematic camera work to create an historic adventure game. This will give students hands-on experience with essential professional game industry software including Unity, Cinemachine and Playmaker. No previous experience is required. The first workshop will run July 16-18 from 6pm-9pm and features the iconic Rosie the Riveter. The second workshop will run July 23-25 from 6pm-9pm and is based on the Legend of John Henry.

STEM careers are the largest-growing sector in the workforce, with job opportunities growing at such a rate that there will be an estimated one million fewer STEM workers than STEM job openings. The vision for the program is to introduce students to hands-on science, history and math while equipping them with valuable interactive design and development skills that will open the doors to career opportunities and entrepreneurial endeavors.
