HARTFORD, Conn. - July 1, 2019 - PRLog -- Day Pitney Celebrates 100 Years in Connecticut with Hartford Block Party

Hartford, CT – June 28, 2019 – Day Pitney LLP recently hosted a block party to celebrate its 100 years of legal services in Connecticut. More than 300 guests, including clients, alumni, and friends of the firm converged on Pratt Street, where they enjoyed food from local vendors, live music and a special performance by the Hartford-based Goza Latin Quartet. Also in attendance were Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, who gave remarks.

To mark the 100-year celebration and Day Pitney's commitment to the community, the firm donated more than 100 children's bikes and helmets to local organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, YMCA Asylum Hill Child Care Center, Camp Courant and the Salvation Army of Greater Hartford. Funds were collected over several weeks, and each of the firm's 13 offices held a "Jeans Day" event, where employees were invited to wear jeans to work in exchange for making donations towards the purchase of bikes and helmets. Employees in the Hartford office worked in teams to assemble the bikes, which were displayed during the block party and delivered to the organizations the following day.

"We are very proud of reaching this milestone, which is a testament to our longstanding relationships and deep commitment to the community," said Tom Goldberg, Day Pitney's Managing Partner. "More importantly, we are thrilled to mark this occasion by giving back to the community through these deserving organizations."

Day Pitney has a long history of giving back to the community in and around Hartford through charitable initiatives and pro bono legal services. Attorneys at the firm have served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Greater Hartford for more than 20 years. As part of that effort, the firm has sponsored the Salvation Army WTIC NewsTalk 1080 "Holiday Store," for many years.

The firm's relationship with the Connecticut Fair Housing Center dates back 16 years, with the firm handling various pro bono matters for the Hartford-based nonprofit civil rights organization. Also, for more than 15 years, Day Pitney has supported Connecticut Appleseed, which works to improve access to education, healthcare and financial services for broad segments of the state's population. Most recently, a team of volunteer attorneys staffed free legal clinics at the South Park Inn, a homeless shelter in Hartford.

The block party also featured Painting with a Twist at Pratt Street art studio, where guests painted puzzle pieces making up a life-size mural representing Day Pitney and the city of Hartford.
