Citrine Angels Is Bringing More Women Into The DC Angel Investing Scene

WASHINGTON - July 3, 2019 - PRLog -- Citrine Angels has announced the launch of its new angel investment group for women to invest in female-founded businesses in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

To celebrate their launch, potential investors and female founders are invited to join Citrine Angels for cocktails and conversation at the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. The event will provide an opportunity for like-minded women to connect, network, and learn more about early stage investing in a collaborative, supportive environment. Cocktails and treats to be provided by woman-owned local businesses, including JRINK Juicery and Sweet Crimes Bakery.

According to Pitchbook, female-founded firms gained only 2.3 percent of the total venture capital investments made in the U.S. last year. Allyson Redpath, a former Wall-Street investment banker, created Citrine Angels in order to direct more investment capital to female entrepreneurs while also creating wealth-building opportunities for women by encouraging them to become angel investors.

Named after the gem said to manifest prosperity, Citrine Angels is a membership group that is open to accredited investors. The group offers a collaborative setting, a supportive environment and ongoing investor education programs to help bring more women into the DC angel investing scene.

Female entrepreneurs across the D.C. area as well as Baltimore, Philadelphia, Richmond and Virginia Beach are encouraged to apply for a chance to present their ideas in front of female investors at pitch meetings starting in September.
