Follow on Google News | Annapolis Shakespeare Company Announces 2019-2020 SeasonBy: Annapolis Shakespeare Company The season opens with arguably the greatest piece of western art ever created - "Hamlet" and will be performed in rotation with their new production of the Broadway classics "All That Jazz", which will be fully choreographed and performed in collaboration with the Unified Jazz Ensemble. Boyett observes that "This combination says everything you need to know about ASC – World-Class theatre from Shakespeare to Broadway musicals." For the holidays, the theater will bring back their holiday tradition with the Helen Hayes-Recommended original adaptation of "A Christmas Carol". Also, back by popular demand is their original "A Broadway Holiday" with an expanded schedule. Starting the 2020 New Year will be "39 Steps" , the essence of theatricality, providing audiences the opportunity to witness a brisk transformative romp in a send-up of Hitchcock's Hollywood classic. This will be followed by the Broadway revival of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" which won 2 Tony Awards. "For all of us, nothing says American classic more than Peanuts", says Boyett. "Generations have, and still do, savor the warmth and heart of Lucy, Linus, Charlie and Snoopy's world" . For the final spring show, Sally Boyett and Donald Hicken are again collaborating to create a world-premiere adaptation of one of the greatest adventure stories of all time - Robert Lewis Stevenson's enduring classic "Treasure Island". "These three winter and spring shows, including an original adaptation, continue our mission of producing the best in classic theatre and Broadway", says Boyett. "And we are excited to bring new family-friendly offerings to our stage." During the summer, the theater will present their eighth season of Comedy in the Courtyard at Reynolds Tavern, with the hilarious work "Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (Abridged)" and their epic production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" presented over three weeks in July 2020 in an intimate outdoor setting.
