The Northern Eye Centre welcomes fresh referrals from general practitioners, optometrists and other health care professionals. Dr. Bassili is a highly experienced cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon with a particular interest in Cataract surgery, Diabetic Retinopathy and age-related Macular Degeneration.

The eye centre can generally provide you with appointments within a couple of weeks, but if there is patient needing urgent treatment, all you have to is to talk to the friendly staff at the centre, and they will do the needful.

The Centre assures patients the best care to suit your needs. It puts great value on their support and feedback. It can be contacted at info@eyecentre.com.au.

Consultation at the Centre is a two-step process. At first, there is consultation with an orthoptist.  The latter is a highly trained, university qualified professional who assists the ophthalmologist for diagnosing eye conditions.

The orthoptist will discuss the reason for your visit, your general medical history, your complaint, any allergies, family history, and medications. Next, your visual acuity will be tested, followed by the measurement of your eye pressure. More tests will be taken up, based on your specific case.

The second step is consultation with an ophthalmologist. Your eye doctor will conduct a total examination of all parts of your eye, using a magnifying instrument called as "Slit Lamp," which permits a thorough examination of the posterior (back) and anterior (front) parts of the eye.

The doctor might conduct more tests to be completed during the same visit. Alternatively, you may have to undergo other tests outside the practice such as CT scan, blood tests, etc.

At the conclusion of the exam, your eye doctor will usually reach a diagnosis. Treatment options will be discussed including the application of drops, undergoing procedures like laser, surgery, or injections. A diagnosis may not be possible with the first visit so more consultations and tests may be advised. For more details, visit https://www.eyecentre.com.au/cataract-surgery/
