-- The Association of Armenian Church Choirs of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America (AACCWD) has unveiled plans for the 2019 Convention and Assembly to be held at Saint Peter Armenian Apostolic Church (Van Nuys, CA) on November 8-10, 2019.
On Friday, November 8, 2019, the AACCWD will host opening festivities and dinner where this year's honoree will be Rev. Fr. Shnork Demirjian. Fr. Shnork, parish priest of Saint Peter Armenian Apostolic Church, has been an active and championing member of the AACCWD and her past and present council members. Through his leadership, he has offered the full support of his parish and community in hosting events, financial support, and volunteer efforts to champion the mission of the choir association. Friday's festivities will be marked by the bittersweet departure of outgoing chairman Sevag Derderian. Derderian's efforts have led to the recent publication efforts of sacred music works, music library expansion efforts, development and distribution of a Christian Education Council music curriculum, revitalized parish outreach, and college scholarship funds. "I will be delivering my final remarks and ensuring that we reflect upon our past successes while acknowledging that work remains to be done as I pass the baton to the next leader of this great organization"
– Sevag Derderian.
On Saturday, November 9, 2019, the AACCWD will hold an assembly meeting where elections will be held to elect a new central council. Further, convention workshops will be conducted by Dr. Christopher Gravis (Professor – California State University Los Angeles), Dr. Ronald Sinanian (Past-Chairman American Guild of Organists), and Mr. Sevag Derderian (AACCWD Chairman). On Sunday, November 10, 2019 Derderian will conduct the Divine Liturgy accompanied by Dr. Ronald Sinanian.
All convention information can be readily accessed via www.aaccwd.com
. Ticket sales will also be processed online. The AACCWD looks forwards to seeing faithful and guests across the Diocese participate in the 2019 Convention & Assembly at Saint Peter Armenian Apostolic Church (Van Nuys, CA).
