BEDFORD, Pa. - June 21, 2019 - PRLog -- A group of 12 senior residents had an opportunity to create their own artwork at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford.

A Summer Painting Class was held at the senior living community. Colonial Courtyard at Bedford LifeStyles Coordinator Nanette Bankes and Director of Sales and Marketing Bobbi Howsare instructed the class.

"The creative juices were flowing at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford," said Howsare, who has a background in art dating to her college days. "Reds, yellows, blues and greens were on display on the beautiful canvases that the residents created. This class provided our residents a chance to display their artistic talent but also was very beneficial in other intangible ways."

Bankes said the class boosted morale and brightened up the senior living community as paintings were displayed on walls and in rooms.

"The painting class definitely was a success," Bankes said. "Our residents really had a great time and created their own artwork. They all painted a summer scene and enjoyed the therapeutic calmness of painting on canvas. This was definitely creativity at its best, seeing their rendition of the sun and sky. It was a very rewarding experience to be a part of as an instructor."
