Benjamin Moore Paints Back in Palm Coast
By: Benjamin Moore
Goodman, who also serves as chairman of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce, is bringing Benjamin Moore paints back to Palm Coast with the opening of a new store at 5 Utility Drive # 1.
"Benjamin Moore had been in the market about 10 years ago," Goodman says. "Benjamin Moore was looking for someone to come back in and reestablish themselves back in this market and I saw this as an opportunity."
Goodman says with Palm Coast and Flagler County seeing an increase in population and the housing market gaining momentum, the timing is right to open a Benjamin Moore store.
"We think it's a great time to be doing this," he said. "Now Benjamin Moore is going to be in the Flagler County market and we're really looking forward to it."
Goodman says the new store will be a true family business, with his wife, Karla, and youngest son, Ethan, already hard at work. But the family plan also includes his two sons currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Sgt. Drake Goodman and Cpl. Carter Goodman.
"They are actually financially invested in the business and hopefully at one point in time the boys will want to take over the business," Goodman says.
Goodman is excited about the opportunity to open a Benjamin Moore store and said the location on Utility Drive is the right fit, situated directly across Utility Drive from the Palm Coast Utility Department.
"As people are getting their utilities situated, they are going to see our Benjamin Moore sign and maybe they'll stop in and talk about paint," Goodman says.
When they do, customers will find a wide variety of paint products, with several different collections including specialty paints, historical paints and Benjamin Moore's Infinity Collection, where customers can take any three paint colors in the collection and find they all go together. In addition, for those customers unsure of exactly what color they want, Goodman says that is no problem.
"If you come in and are not sure what kind of paint you want to put on your walls, we can mix them as far as the paint is concerned," he says.
Goodman says he was attracted to Benjamin Moore not just for the quality and reputation of the product, but because the company is looking for people with strong business backgrounds to join the firm's New Entrepreneur Program. Through the program, Goodman is the owner of his store, not a franchisee.
"I am the owner of Good People Paint and Décor," he says. "Of the 5,000 plus Benjamin Moore retailers, all are their own owner."
Goodman says he doesn't plan to stop at just one store.
"We plan to grow," he says. "We don't want to stop with one store as we are hopefully successful with this one.
Goodman says a ribbon cutting with the Flagler Chamber is planned for July or early August. They are located at 5 Utility Dr., Palm Coast. Store hours are 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday;
