-- The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta (ISB) and CIFAL Atlanta have partnered to offer jointly an annual leadership program for cultivating competent and effective civic leaders from diverse communities (Muslim and Non-Muslim) throughout Georgia. The ISB Leadership Institute (ISBLI) trains and cultivates civic leaders who create positive and constructive changes within communities and add value in the public square. ISBLI is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Institute. More information and the application are available on ISB's website.
CIFAL Atlanta was founded by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the City of Atlanta in 2003. The collaboration with CIFAL Atlanta will increase ISBLI's impact by connecting the program to the United Nation's Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
ISBLI provides the participants with opportunities to engage with community leaders in Georgia, gain skills and experience in advocacy and service, and build their networks of experts and influencers. The nine-month institute meets one Saturday each month for sessions that include thought-leader led workshops, panel discussions and interactive learning. ISB and CIFAL Atlanta are also planning for the class to have opportunities to practically apply their new skills through developing and implementing a service project for a community-based organization. This group project will allow selected human service agencies to interact with up-and-coming leaders from across Georgia. Organizations interested in working with ISBLI should contact ISB executive director, Soumaya Khalifa.
