SALISBURY, N.C. - June 13, 2019 - PRLog -- Have you ever noticed how young children bring joy to residents of long-term care communities? Trinity Oaks health and rehab in Salisbury, which offers skilled nursing care and short-term rehab, has been intentional about fostering joy through intergenerational relationships, most recently through its popular EngAGE Together partnership with nearby St. John's Child Development Center.

For its efforts, Trinity Oaks health and rehab received the LeadingAge North Carolina Excellence in Collaboration Award. Operated by Lutheran Services Carolinas, Trinity Oaks, joins 18 other award winners statewide who exemplify excellence in advocacy, innovation, leadership, collaboration, governance, and service in the field of aging services.

This year's awards were presented at a special lunch during LeadingAge North Carolina's Annual Conference May 8 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The award specifically acknowledges the EngAGE Together program, which pairs preschoolers from St. John's Child Development Center with residents of Trinity Oaks health and rehab for fun activities, whether it's playing noodleball, making crafts, dancing, or creating music together.

"The EngAGE Together partnership that Trinity Oaks has forged with St. John's Child Development Center has fostered intergenerational relationships that bring joy to everyone involved," said Lutheran Services Carolinas President Ted Goins. "We are proud of the many ways that Trinity Oaks reaches out to the community to help residents stay engaged and connected."

EngAGE Together is supported by an enhancement grant from the North Carolina Culture Change Coalition.
