Transworld Group signs MoU with NMIS for academic & educational cooperation in shipping & logistics

NAVI MUMBAI, India - June 13, 2019 - PRLog -- At an event organised in May in the company's Mumbai office, the Transworld Group, one of the leading global shipping and logistics service providers, signed a MoU with Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping (NMIS), a leading and reputed institute in India, for academic and educational cooperation in shipping and related logistics. Transworld and NMIS have agreed to collaborate with each other in academic pursuits, educational cooperation and training, informed a release.

The MoU was inked by the Chairman of Transworld Group, Mr Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan, and Capt. M. M. Saggi, Director, NMIS. The Transworld Group was also well represented by its senior management team, while Mr Suresh Sawant, Secretary, NMIS, joined the Director on the occasion.

Addressing those gathered, Mr Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan expressed his happiness, highlighting that Transworld has been contemplating to promote skill development among its existing employees as well as new aspirants in the shipping and related logistics segments, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility objectives. He emphasised that with this collaboration, Transworld aims to work closely with NMIS to facilitate skill-based academic and educational cooperation associated with the shipping and logistics-related functions of the industry, and to promote mutual understanding and growth of the two institutions. With this collaboration, it plans to extend its services further into India as well as to global locations like Singapore and Dubai, utilising Transworld's strong presence in these regions.

The collaborative activities planned include areas of mutual interest such as:

* Distance learning through virtual classrooms for Transworld Group employees across different locations in the world

* Training of seafarers employed on Group ships in the commercial aspects of shipping

* Classroom training in specific modules for the employees of the Group

* Campus recruitment, internship and scholarship to deserving students of NMIS on merit-cum-means basis by Transworld Group
