Want to Learn How to Boat? On-Water Training Courses June 22 and 23
'Intro to Boating' and 'Women Making Waves' Courses to be offered at Freedom Boat Club Lake Norman
By: Freedom Boat Club of Lake Norman
Both the "Intro to Boating' and 'Women Making Waves' courses will start at 9:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Each three hour long course is affordably priced at $149 per person (if you register before June 18 the course is $119 pp). Participants must be 21 years old. Class size is limited to three students per vessel, ensuring each student gets sufficient time at the helm under the watchful eye of a United States Coast Guard-certified instructor.
The 'Intro to Boating' course covers shifting and steering, open-water handling and basic navigation. The ladies-only course, 'Women Making Waves' is the same curriculum, while offering the perfect opportunity to spend a half day learning boat-handling techniques in a supportive environment.
The goal of BoatUS and Freedom Boat Club Lake Norman courses is to address the high costs typically associated with at-the-helm training, amking hands-on boating education more affordable. The courses also offer area residents the chance to try out recreational boating and give boaters the opportunity to brush up on their boat-handling skills.
