Mary Olson's children's books about Alzheimer's Disease grab the attention of filmmaker Zach Jordan
When Zach Jordan learned author Mary Olson was inspired to write her children's books due to her mother passing away with the disease, Zach decided to travel to Johnson City and make it a part of his documentary. Mary Olson's books, When the Sun Shines Through and Grandpa, Is that you?, published through Jan-Carol Publishing, are children's books written to help a child understand Alzheimer's Disease. The books have been recognized throughout different Alzheimer's support organizations.
With one of the major sponsors being AARP, Zach will be visiting many cities such as Los Angles, Austin Texas, Phoenix Arizona, and others. Johnson City, Tennessee will be a stop along his journey on Friday, June 14, at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, Tennessee. Zach will be interviewing people and hearing their stories as a part of his film, which is part of the MyAlzheimers story project.
A live Facebook time is tentatively scheduled from 3:00pm to 3:30pm.
Later that evening, the documentary screening will be at the McKinney Center from 7:00 pm to 8:15pm, followed up with questions and answers, completing the event at 9:30pm.
