Longtime Dream Giveaway Donor Wins The Home Improvement Dream Giveaway!

Mr. Smith has been making donations to enter the Dream Giveaway sweepstakes since 2010. His continued generosity proved yet again that good things happen to good people. On January 22, 2019, Mr. Smith split a donation between the Corvette Dream Giveaway and the Home Improvement Dream Giveaway. That strategy proved to be a good one. "My son, who was actually with me when I got the call, is the marketing executive for the Indiana Army National Guard. Out of all the charities my donation helped, the charity that is most important to me is the National Guard Educational Foundation."
On Thursday, May 16, 2019, he received the news via telephone that he had won the Home Improvement Dream Giveaway. "When I got the call it was awesome," he said. "My son and I had actually just left The Home Depot when I got the call. When we walked into The Home Depot, I saw a penny, picked it up, and told my son. 'This is our lucky day!' So sure enough it was our lucky day. When I told my wife she didn't think it was real at first but when I got home she had already sent me a list. My wife has all kinds of ideas. We will enjoy doing the planning and shopping."
Mr. Smith, who just retired this past March, worked for 49 years in the railroad industry. He spent 36 years on the Union Pacific Railroad as a Signal Engineer from Illinois to California and an additional 13 years working as an engineering/

New Beginning Children's Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received, NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Bright Pink, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
