Afros Unidos - Building Community Through Action

MEDELLÍN, Colombia - June 6, 2019 - PRLog -- Afros Unidos, an initiative seeking to change narratives and build communities that unite the African diaspora, is actively building a network of sustainable, autonomous communities through its promotion of action areas in business and finance, service, culture, and education.

In honor of Colombian Black History Month, Afros Unidos has sponsored and hosted a variety of community events in Medellin, Colombia to promote its organizational mission and vision. These notable events include:

·      Black Power Day Party, a social gathering during the early afternoon hours with a casual, neighborly atmosphere.

·      NegroFest, an independent festival featuring People of Color in the arts, such as in music, art and cosplay scenes, with performances by various bands, DJs, and local Medellin vendors.

·      Afro Festival Cultural Cookout, a cultural event replicating traditional African American cookouts for the Medellin community, with guided discussions involving the importance and symbolism of cookouts and food gatherings within African American communities.

Each event last month was attended by lively crowds of Medellin residents, and successfully supported and educated community members on the importance of cultural matters.

Such achievements, and the experience of Afros Unidos within the African diaspora, address some of the most pressing issues of modern time and have successfully contributed to the development of networks and communities, driving the initiatives organizational mission and vision.

"Such efforts have been recognized on an international level, and we are of the work we have completed within the communities."

To date, Afros Unidos has successfully contributed to the development of networks and sustainable communities in multiple territories and continues to be a leader in driving both its organizational mission and vision.
