Comic Book Achieves Kickstarter Funding Goals

ORLANDO, Fla. - June 6, 2019 - PRLog -- Manga comic book Macchiato! recently reached its crowdfunding goals and will begin production. From storytellers, Hotep Anthony, writer, and Roland Broussard, colorist, comes the story of aliens who were forced to flee their homeland after a failed attempt to overthrow a corrupt government. Macchiato! Kickstarter pledges ranged from $5 to $500 with 40 supporters contributing to a total of $4,322 to bring the project to fruition.

Inspired by Japanese comics and animation, the comic follows the ever-popular manga style aimed at adults and children alike. Coming in at 105 pages, Volume 1 tells the story of the corrupt Melaran government's plans to invade Earth and enslave the human race. The Melarans have also mastered their Qehn, an energy life force that flows through reality and is as old as the universe itself. The story tells that every being in existence resonates with at least one of the five different Qehn types.


• Cosmic Qehn: Grants the user the power to manipulate the purest forms of energy at will.
• Imperial Qehn: Grants the user the ability to manipulate the size and density of objects.
• Psycho Qehn: Grants the user telekinetic and telepathic abilities.
• Quantum Qehn: Grants the user the ability to control light, gravity, and, to a lesser extent, time.
• Elemental Qehn: Grants the users the ability to manipulate objects on an atomic level.

To defeat the Melarans and prevent the destruction of earth and enslavement of the human race, five humans have been recruited to save the world.

Major themes in the work demonstrate strength in diversity and the idea that anyone can be family, regardless of race, blood, or status.

To entice manga comic book and Japanese anime animation fans to pledge, the Kickstarter page offered the first eight pages of the comic book free. Anthony and Broussard creatively utilized their first-person narrative of the main alien character on Kickstarter to tell the story of comic book and its creators and how the human race could help defeat the Melarans with a pledge.
