Meet Mahana Fresh Franchisee Byron Harris
By: Mahana Fresh
Byron's diverse professional background and his close ties within the Charlottesville community will surely help him when he opens his first location later this year. After spending a number of years as an assignment editor at the CNN National Desk, Byron moved to Charlottesville and began his entrepreneurial career by opening his own bookstore. Byron learned many lessons through the endeavor, "I ran my own business and having done some things right and plenty wrong. In my next venture, I wanted to go the franchise route to work with people who have a proven track record, a clear path to profit, industry expertise, something recession as well as technology proof." Byron's resume also includes time as a fireman, a banker, a bosun's mate on a cruise ship, and teacher. He is also active in the Live Arts Community Theatre, Abundant Life Ministries, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Urban Recipe Food Co-ops, and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Byron plans to bring people from across Charlottesville into his restaurant, "We will serve superior, healthy bowls of various proteins in a warm and inviting environment. The menu will be both savory and creative, the food strikingly fresh, the service quick and courteous, and the ambiance will invite patrons to linger whether after a workout, a family meal, or on a first date."
