The Association for Professional Acupuncture in PA and the Won Institute of Graduate Studies Celebrates Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day

HARRISBURG, Pa. - June 1, 2019 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, June 11th acupuncturists from the Association of Acupuncture Pennsylvania (APA Penn) and the Won Institute of Graduate Studies will demonstrate and provide auricular or ear acupuncture to lawmakers, staff, and visitors in the capitol East Wing Rotunda from 9 a.m. –1:30 p.m.

The acupuncture procedure demonstrated has proven results in mitigating pain, stimulating blood flow, normalizing the nervous system, improving emotional wellbeing, and assisting with those seeking recovery from opioid addiction. This simple ear treatment developed by the National Association of Detox Acupuncture (NADA) can be an effective tool in battling the opioid epidemic and providing a complementary therapy to Pennsylvania citizens for pain management without pills.

The Won Institute, Pennsylvania's only school offering master degree programs in acupuncture and certificate programs in Chinese herbal medicine, provides NADA acupuncture in community-based settings in Philadelphia and Bucks counties for veterans and those in recovery from addiction in order to alleviate PTSD and strengthen addiction recovery resolve.

APA Penn is the state's only professional organization whose mission is to promote, advance and protect the professional practice of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for the state's 650 licensed providers. It fosters education for Pennsylvania's healthcare providers and increased access to acupuncture and Oriental/East Asian medicine for Pennsylvania's citizens.

AOM Day is part of a nation-wide effort to increase public awareness of the progress, promise, and benefits of acupuncture and Eastern medicine. These proven and cost-effective treatments are becoming increasingly integrated into a wide variety of medical facilities and are providing complimentary healthcare choices for Pennsylvania citizens. Both APA Penn and the Won Institute will have educational and informational material on hand at the display booth. To find an acupuncturist near you visit APA Penn online at apapenn.com.
