TURF Opens New Design Office in Renovated Firehouse

By: TURF

CHICAGO - May 30, 2019 - PRLog -- TURF, a Chicago-based acoustic solutions company, has opened their new design office in a renovated firehouse originally built in 1896. The perfect play space for TURF's team of designers, the new Firehouse centers around an open office and prototyping space that fill the old garage. Breakout rooms, a ping-pong lounge and upstairs apartment (with custom TURF product installations throughout) occupy the rest of the two-story, 8,000 square-foot space.

"The Firehouse is an expression of the kind of work we want to participate in. It's custom. It's adaptive. It's responsive. It's a 100-year-old building, and we're conforming to the constraints of all the things that are associated with making a space successful both acoustically and aesthetically," said Dustin Headley, Director of Product Design and Development at TURF.

The Firehouse is a fixture in Chicago's design-centric Logan Square and had been untouched for almost 60 years before TURF, working with Rivetna Architects and Vertical Interior Design, reimagined the space. The historic site showcases original brickwork, subway tiles, flooring and a red spiral staircase alongside TURF's sculptural ceilings.
