The themes of the APP are 1. Arts & Culture, and Monuments- The themes Arts, Culture, & History (monument) are of major importance providing a rich representation of the Little Haiti Community. Little Haiti was established bu Haitian immigrants who fought to preserve their identity and share their culture in a new land. The richness of Haitian culture and history is told on the walls of street murals, and at local cultural organizations like Haitian Heritage Museum, Little Haiti Cultural Center as well as public monuments for all to see. These unique platforms represents a diverse canvas that shows comprehensive perspective of Little Haiti, and Haitian culture from various viewpoints 2. Religious Institutions- 3. Educational Institutions- 4. Culinary-The Culinary theme resonates in the Haitian community in much the same way the Arts do. Food is an aspect of culture and highly celebrated point of pride in Little Haiti and a great medium of engagement for visitors that want to experience the community's culture . When: Thursday June 27, 2019 Hard Launch 6:30pm Where: Haitian Heritage Museum 4141 NE 2nd Avenue Suite 105C Miami, FL 33137 Why: Currently the tourism development efforts in Little Haiti have been exploding since the Greater Miami Convention & Visitor Bureau have launched ethnically diverse focused Tourism in culturally ethnic neighborhoods like Little Haiti to bring in a groups of tourists who are interested in the history and heritage represented in Greater Miami. This is part of GMCVB's 5 year strategic plan in response to demand that Greater Miami and the Beaches needs to increase the awareness of cultural attractions to visitors and local residents. Showcasing Greater Miami's heritage neighborhoods via the Cultural and Heritage Tourism program represents opportunities to generate incremental room nights and extend the length of stay of our visitors thus contributing to the economic impact of tourism for the State of Florida. Please find the link for Sound Bite for Stop 8 Stop 8: Piman Bouk Restaurant (Culinary) -The Piman Bouk (which means hot pepper) is an iconic Haitian community restaurant that is named after its founder Nelson Voltaire (Piman Bouk) a very prominent Haitian immigrant and inductee of the North Miami Citizens Hall of Fame.
