It's a great side job for people that enjoy hanging out in their respective cities and meeting new people. Moreover, it's completely free for both the local hosts and travelers to register and begin connecting.

Local hosts are not tour guides, and there are no memorized scripts. They are simply local people that are passionate about their city and have an interest in meeting new people. They can show visitors their favourite places to shop, eat, and have fun; invite them to join them for an activity or hobby; or help them get situated if they are relocating. They can speak any language, create their own schedule and charge any hourly rate.
