Spacycloud Lounge Presents "algo-raves, Tidalcycles And Livecoding"A Music Workshop for Beginners in Adams Morgan, Washington DC
By: sPACYcLOUd WASHINGTON - May 23, 2019 - PRLog -- sPACYcLOUd Lounge is hosting a music livecoding workshop on June 2 for D.C.-area residents who are new to coding — and even new to music performance.
The workshop will instruct budding musicians on TidalCycles, a program used to turn lines of code into repeating patterns of music allowing for randomness, audio effects (e.g. delay, distortion, reverb), granular synthesis and imagination to sculpt rhythmic patterns without ever losing the beat. Unlike pre-composed, recorded electronic beats, livecoded music is created in real-time, allowing the artist to improvise freely and often, just by tweaking algorithms. The workshop will take place at sPACYcLOUd in Adams Morgan on Sunday, June 2 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and feature musician Richard Seymour, who will teach an emerging art that synthesizes technology and music. QUOTE OPTION ONE: "All over Europe and Southeast Asia, a new generation of musicians are emerging at "algoraves," "I'm really excited about getting folks with zero coding and zero music experience creating sounds with code on their own machines in a few hours," states Seymour, who will be instructing students on TidalCycles during the workshop. Space is limited at this special event taking place inside the sPACYcLOUd Lounge and performance venue in Washington, D.C. ## Located in the heart of Adams Morgan, sPACYcLOUd Lounge is a community space, vegetarian restaurant, coffee shop, skate shop, tea house, skateboard lounge, bar, art gallery and performance venue. sPACYcLOUd Lounge serves up a variety of events every night including women's rap nights, educational workshops, women in Jazz, yoga classes, Karaoke, and much more.
