A great number of things can aid a child's learning process, even kids TV shows!
Some of these shows focus on enhancing values and life skills, so that the young viewer is able to steer safely through life. If we were to talk about favourites, we'd have to spend hours (or more) to prepare that definitive kids cartoon list. So, we've cut the time to a bare minimum and prepared a short and sweet list of some of the best cartoons for kids aged five.
Tom and Jerry
The classics never go out of fashion. The Tom and Jerry Show offers a type of comedy that all ages find entertaining. It is a show that provides the perfect opportunity for an entire family to sit together and enjoy some television. At the same time, it subtly teaches quite a lot of lessons, one of them being that it isn't always the strong that win; the intelligent can outwit anyone.
In an age where health issues are bubbling amongst youngsters due to unhealthy lifestyle and food choices, Kalari Kids reminds us of the virtues of physical strength and vigour. Not only does it promote the concept of fitness, it also brings back a long lost tradition. Introducing the martial art form of kalaripayattu to young ones with sass and fun, Kalari Kids takes children back to an age they might not be able to experience in real life. The rich setup, inspired from folk art has nostalgia written all over it. Laced with a perfect dose of friendship, competition, learning and art, the show is just as fun and entertaining as it is educational.
Affection for Chhota Bheem comes naturally to children, making it one of the most loved cartoons for kids in the country. The superhero ingredient of the show makes children look up to the character, while the friendly demeanour of the protagonist makes them relate to him. In every episode of the show, Chhota Bheem and his gang not only take the audience on a roller coaster of adventure, they also help seed important values like bravery, friendship and valour.
Grizzy and the Lemmings
Give children a comic series with anthropomorphized animal protagonists...and they will lap it up. While constantly making the kids laugh, Grizzy and the Lemmings also represents the spirit of never giving up. Grizzy despite being huge can sometimes get stuck or become slow because of his stature, but that doesn't make him give up. Likewise, the lemmings are pitted against a bear many times their size, but they always stay together and combine their wits and pace against Grizzy.
Mr Bean - The Animated Series
A show you wouldn't want your kids to miss! Mr. Bean - The Animated Series is based on the British TV series of the same name. It features a clumsy and innocent middle-aged man entertaining kids with his antics. The episodes have minimal dialogues and often find Mr. Bean in hilarious situations due to his bad decisions. From a child's point of view, the relationship between Mr. Bean and his teddy stands out as most relatable. Albeit just an inanimate soft toy, the cute-as-a-button teddy is also his best friend.
