Yours Humanly Named Outstanding Volunteer Organization by Mount Diablo Education Association

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - May 20, 2019 - PRLog -- Yours Humanly, a Northern California-based nonprofit that provides underprivileged children in underserved communities access to quality education, received the 2018-2019 Outstanding Volunteer Organization Award during the 7th annual Mount Diablo Education Association (MDEA) Academy Awards, held May 9, at Centre Concord and attended by 200 educators, staff, and volunteers. Yours Humanly was recognized for its long-term volunteer partnership with the Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) and its impact on thousands of MDUSD students.

"Cuts in school funding affect all students, but particularly those students in low-income communities and schools that are already struggling to provide the educational supplies and resources children need to learn and flourish," says Sunny Singh, founder and CEO of Yours Humanly. "Yours Humanly is pleased to provide opportunities for parents and students to increase equitable experiences across MDUSD's diverse communities and we're happy to step in to bridge gaps between available resources and need."

In the past year, Yours Humanly has donated:

• 200 bilingual books (Urdu, Afghan, Spanish, and Dari) to Cambridge, Sun Terrace, and Bel Air elementary schools;

• 500 books to Rio Vista, affording every child at Rio Vista a book to read, with additional books available to give away at Family Reading Nights;

• computers and printers to Bel Air Elementary School, a donation that serves both students and their parents;

• critical STEM program materials to Rio Vista for its November 2018 Family STEM Night;

• STEM program materials for an entire school year to Sun Terrace so students can now work in the STEM labs.

Yours Humanly has also purchased an entire STEM kit worth $10,000 that will be shared by all elementary schools within MDUSD, serving more than 13,000 students.
