Case History/Trial Evidence: On February 25, 2018, Kennan and his friends were drinking at bars in Bloomington, Illinois. Following an argument earlier in the evening with a group of mean that bouncers had to break up, Kennan found himself outside of the bar in the early morning hours. Once outside, Kennan was confronted by the group of men with whom he had the previous argument in reprisal for what had happened earlier inside the bar. At trial, the jury heard evidence that the alleged victim pushed Keenan first, who then defended himself by pushing, only to wind up being the victim of the gang beating by the men that he feared. It was revealed during trial that the gang of men were all heavily intoxicated. The alleged victim in the case, whom Kennan feared the most as a result of his verbal and physical aggression, suffered serious injuries as a result of his head hitting the ground. Originally, Keenan was charged with four counts of Aggravated Battery, but the State's Attorney dismissed two counts during the trial after the evidence was completed. The jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty in less than 2 hours. Kennan is a new father, and college graduate. Comments/Remarks: Johnson Law Group attorney Kevin Sanborn conducted the jury trial, and has the following comments/remarks. Johnson Law Group attorney Kevin Sanborn: "The system worked, and an innocent man is free tonight after facing years in prison for only defending himself. This case speaks to the fact that, whatever state you're in, you cannot go around picking fights with people, only to claim later that you were the victim." https://www.jlawgroup.com/ End
