filerskeepers named by Gartner a 2019 "Cool Vendor" in Legal and Compliance Automation
The Cool Vendor report "highlight[s] interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services."
About a year ago we started filerskeepers with the objective "to solve records retention once and for all." During this first magical year of our journey filerskeepers quickly gained traction with multinationals from all over the world and we are still coming to terms with what "extreme growth" actually means. And the second year has started very promising as well: we are very honoured and humbled to announce thatGartner named filerskeepers a 2019 "Cool Vendor" in its"Cool Vendors in Legal and Compliance Automation" report.
filerskeepers provides large corporates and multinationals insights in how long they should store their data based on the laws of the world. As implementing data retention periods can be a daunting task, it is very easy to get stuck in the maze of data retention. Especially if you are a multinational with many different systems, records and laws that apply to it. According to Gartner, "The vendors described in this report are "cool" in their holistic view of processes, their employment of valuable content, and their reframing of long-standing yet mounting challenges for legal and compliance leaders."
filerskeepers helps companies decide which retention period to choose per system or document category. We provide data retention schedules that give insight into the legal maximum and minimum retention periods applicable in the countries relevant to them (at a fraction of the cost of engaging a lawyer or consultant). This helps companies to justify why they are storing personal data (for example: "for compliance with income tax rules") and for how long (for example: "for 10 years from the date following the end of the book year").
In a data driven world, a company is as strong as the data it has and uses. Part of fruitful data processing is making sure that you know when data must be kept and when it must be deleted. Data is subject to different data retention periods, which may vary per country and/or industry. As a result, thousands of retention rules require you to either keep or destroy data. Implementing a data retention policy will help organizations to be in control of their data and will reduce the risk of being non-compliant with laws and regulation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We see Gartner's report as a boost for our quest. It makes us say to all the multinationals out there, let's team up, solving records retention is possible! It is what we are here for! J
