Legal Ownership Of Zambezi Portland Goes To Finsbury Investments After Court Decision

LUSAKA, Zambia - May 14, 2019 - PRLog -- Zambezi Portland Cement was a case which was pending at the Lusaka High Court for more than a decade. During this time, numerous evidences and factual information were shared from Dr. Rajan Mahtani's end, the legal owner of the factory. However, the final decision from the Lusaka High Court judge was controversial one as the judge announced that Ventriglias were only shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement. After this judgement, Dr. Rajan Mahtani took the case to Court of Appeal.

The Court of Appeal took nine months to arrive at a decision and the final decision was given on 31^st January 2019. The judge at the Court of Appeal was Justice Mwinde who also said that the judge below him was wrong in declaring Ventriglias as the only shareholders. As per the final decision at the Court of Appeal, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments is the majority shareholder of the Zambezi Portland Cement with 58 percent shares. On the other hand, Ventriglias who own the Ital Terrazzo Limited own 42 percent shares and are the minority shareholders of the Zambezi Portland. As per this decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the legal owner of the Zambezi Portland Cement factory. Furthermore, a timeline of three months have been given to the both parties associated with the case during which all activities related to share regularization must be completed.

Those employees and workers who are still working with Zambezi Portland Cement have sighed relief after the Court of Appeal decision and have said that they are hopeful that Dr. Rajan Mahtani will turn around the factory to its original glory soon.
