DECATUR, Ga. - May 13, 2019 - PRLog -- Estate & Asset Protection Attorney, Victoria Collier tells readers that as an elder care attorney, many people come to her for advice when they are desperate for answers and help. She suggests talking to an elder care attorney long before a loved one passes or falls ill.

DECATUR, GA, May 13, 2019: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new article on her law firm's website entitled "Who Needs An Elder Care Attorney And When," in which Ms. Collier clarifies confusion about the role of an elder care attorney.

Collier writes, "For most people, life is so busy and moves so quickly we rarely think about how we will manage our own lives when we are elderly let alone how our parents will manage their lives!" She continues, "And, before you know it, your parents are elderly and suddenly you wonder if they are financially prepared to take care of their needs for however long they have left. This is typical in the lives of so many."

"It is my mission to help people understand the value of taking time to think about these inevitabilities long before they arrive," says Collier. "Yet," she adds, "it is usually in desperation that so many people come to me for help. Either a parent or a spouse becomes ill and/or incapacitated and the person who finds him or herself suddenly thrust into the role of caregiver is faced with legal issues that have not been properly sorted out or tended to."

As Collier points out, "Very often the services of an elder law attorney are confusing." "Many people," she writes, "think Elder Care Law is the same as an estate law attorney." She elaborates, "While an elder care attorney can also be an estate and asset protection attorney, they are not the same. Estate law is concerned with what you leave to your loved ones when you die. An Elder Care Attorney knows how to help negotiate the confusing legal terrain when a loved one has become mentally or physically incapable of caring for their needs and their own personal business prior to their death."

Collier shares, "Very often prospective clients arrive at my office wondering how they will manage one or both of their parents huge bills for long-term care. There are those who wonder if they will have to sell a beloved home while a parent is still alive. Others arrive not knowing that they have untapped military benefits that can be accessed."
