LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. - May 8, 2019 - PRLog -- From the earliest childhood, adults keep telling children to stand up straight, not to slouch, to straighten the spine and spread the shoulders. A slouchy spine doesn't look very good and makes a poor representation of the person. These consequences are quite serious because we are all social animals and are dependent on what other people think of us. But what is no less important, is how a bad posture affects our health.

When a spine is constantly in an improper position, different from its normal physiological one, it distorts over time. The spine is a very important and multifunctional part of our body. Any problems with it will affect different spheres of your health. You may not even know the true reason for various discomforts caused by your improper posture.

What Do You Feel When You Are "That Slouchy Guy"

This is what happens to the life of a person who has a problematic posture and does nothing about it. If these problems sound familiar to you, it's time to work on your spine.

When you hold your spine in an unnatural way, its cervical part ( is overstrained. You feel the pain due to the degenerative changes in it that develop due to a constant unbalanced strain. The tissues wear way faster than they're supposed to. The poor blood supply, damage of ligaments and muscles due to overwhelming and pain radiating into your head - this is what you get with an improper posture.

Dyspnea and Heart Palpitations

The crooked position of your spine creates pressure over your internal organs that lead to their displacement and deformation over time. Heart and lungs are the first to suffer and in severe cases of spinal deformation, even the gastrointestinal tract is affected.

Sports injuries

You sit in the office slouching in front of your computer all day. And then you go to the gym to lift heavy weights. Your spine, weakened by the constant strain of staying in an abnormal position, may not handle this. Increase the physical strain gradually, don't overwhelm yourself and don't start your workout without a good warmup to reduce the risk of injury.

Back pain

It's the most obvious effect of an improper posture. The posture-induced problem transforms into chronic back pain very quickly. It includes a wide specter of disorders that involve tissues, nerves, joints, and internal organs. Chronic back pain treatment ( is a complicated process that can only relieve the discomfort but not make the problem disappear completely.

Chest pain

Chest pain always scares people because the first things they think of is heart or lung disease. But if the diagnostic doesn't show any problems in these areas, a may be a specific type of nerve pain ( Abnormally toned spinal muscles result in spasms that affect the nerve endings, transferring the pain into your chest.

Chronic fatigue

Your body is exhausted by the constant uncomfortable position and the abnormal tension in muscles, joints, and ligaments. The squeezed lungs don't let you breathe properly. This is why you may not be very busy but still feel tired.

As you can see, these problems bring down the quality of life and lead to irreversible abnormal changes over time. This is why if you have an improper posture, it needs to be corrected before things progress too far.
