Nearly 800 Runners Expected for iRun4Life's Kids Only 3K in Doylestown
Nearly 800 kids in grades K-6 will gather Sunday, May 19 at Central Park in Doylestown, Pa. for the annual iRun4Life Kids Only 3K, the flagship event of non-profit youth running organization iRun4Life. The 10th anniversary race is set to begin at 9.
The running program started with four elementary schools and 300 children participating. It has grown and expanded into 26 elementary schools in ten school districts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Overall, close to 3,000 children participate in iRun4Life's running program. The children have logged over 368,000 miles, and successfully completed 38,000 good deeds in their communities.
The race, now in its 10th year, will bring together children from schools across the area, including Central Bucks, Council Rock, Abington, New Hope-Solebury elementary schools, among others.
The iRun4Life Kids Only 3K, which is open to the public, will feature community partners and sponsors, chip timing, finisher and placement awards, music and games, among other activities. Parents are encouraged to register their child at iRun4Life.com.
The organization also promotes positive community service and involvement. Three years ago iRun4Life launched its iRun4Life Gives Back program, where iRun4Life runners participate in unique and special running events to fundraise to purchase new exercise equipment for elementary schools in need. Last April, iRun4Life runners raised over $6,000 to purchase new exercise equipment for Thomas Mifflin and Gideon Elementary Schools in Philadelphia. This year, the iRun4Life Gives Back Program is benefiting Robert Pollack Elementary School in Philadelphia.
