Rotary Club of Gulfport to Host First-Ever "Crawdads and Candidates" June 1

GULFPORT, Miss. - May 3, 2019 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club of Gulfport will host the first-ever "Crawdads and Candidates" June 1 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Barksdale Pavilion in Gulfport's Jones Park.

    "Crawdads and Candidates," a new fundraiser for the Club's international projects, will feature short stump speeches by candidates who will appear on the 2019 election ballot in Harrison County, along with live music by "Casual and the Uptights," hot crawfish, and beverages from FEB Distributing and Allen Beverages, Inc.

    Tickets are available now at or by calling (228) 382-0470.  General admission tickets are $5 each, or a "crawdaddy deluxe" ticket, which includes admission, three pounds of crawfish, and two drink tickets, is $30.  Crawfish will be available for purchase on site by general admission ticket holders only as long as supplies last.

    The Rotary Club of Gulfport was founded in 1921 with the mission of promoting "Service above Self."  In 2019, with proceeds from "Crawfish and Candidates," the Club plans to fund, in part, new clean water well and nursing scholarship programs in Haiti.  Past local projects have included providing dictionaries to every third-grader in Gulfport, scholarships for outstanding Gulfport high school graduates, and an annual walk benefitting organizations such as Extra Table, CASA of Harrison County, and the fire and police benevolent funds.
