The Life Raft Group Holds First GIST DO IT New Jersey Fundraising Walk

WAYNE, N.J. - May 2, 2019 - PRLog -- The Life Raft Group (LRG), a patient advocacy organization specializing in GIST cancer, announced today that they are hosting their first GIST DO IT fundraising walk in Verona Park on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

GIST DO IT is a series of efforts designed to raise funds for research for a rare cancer called Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). The Life Raft Group (LRG), headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey, has been on the forefront of research, education and advocacy effort for GIST patients since the year 2000.

The LRG's first GIST DO IT Walk was held in Miami in 2018 as part of the LRG's Life Fest Event, a gathering where hundreds of patients and caregivers come together for a weekend to interact with each other and the medical and scientific communities that serve them. Faced with a rare form of cancer, GIST patients have a great need for information about this disease.

The GIST DO IT Walk will be held in Verona Park with opening remarks at 8AM, and the walk commencing at 8:30 AM. In addition to the walk, there will be refreshments and giveaways, and a chance to learn more about this rare cancer and how to help support the cause.
