May 1, 2019 - PRLog -- Parkinson's like symptoms are one of the most severely crippling chronic disorders of the nervous system and the brain center in which neurons and dopamine-producing cells in your brain begin to die. The initial event leading to Parkinson's is damage to the postsynaptic dopamine neurons of the substantia nigra in the brain which regulate fine motor control.

Symptoms involved in the control and regulation of movement progress over time. Tremors, slow movements, rigid limbs, shuffling gait, stooped posture, reduced ability to make facial expressions, and inability to move are the most common symptoms. While a person with Parkinson's like symptoms suffer significant physical disability, the condition may also trigger depression, speech impediments and personality changes and possibly even dementia.

Parkinson's affects as many as 7 million to 10 million adults worldwide, and approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson's every year. Men are 1.5 times more likely to have Parkinson's than women.

Although typically diagnosed around age 60 or later, Parkinson's like symptoms are not just an older person's condition. Young-onset Parkinson's like symptoms are on the rise.  We see more and more people in their forties and even thirties or twenties diagnosed with PD like symptoms.  Many people with young onset experience delay in diagnosis given the uncommon age and often different symptoms.  Research suggests that genetics may play more of a role in early or young onset than in people who are diagnosed over the age of 50.

A variety of genetic and environmental factors underlie the Parkinson's like symptoms. Emergent research implicates relative nutritional deficiencies, neurotoxicity created by methylation collapse and brain injury to be a major contributor to neurodegeneration.  We also recognize the importance of the gut bacteria affects the brain function (gut-brain) connection.

Indeed there's not much good news when it comes to Parkinson's.  There is NO CURE. The picture is bleak, but there is some good news...Amino Acids nutritional therapy that focuses on supplementing L-dopa in balance with other neurotransmitters but without harmful effects of Carbidopa can dramatically slow or even stop the progression of the Parkinson's like symptoms, impacting factors like motor skills, mood and behavior.
